Isa Khan Gateway
CE 1548
Predating Humayun’s Tomb by only two decades, Isa Khan’s mausoleum complex survives in its entirety – enclosure walls, gateway, mosque, and even the original well. It stands prominently at the entrance to the Humayun’s Tomb complex and the first complex that visitor visits after exiting from the Musuem. Isa Khan’s Tomb is of an architectural style that was used for royal tombs through the 15th century rule of the Sayyid and Lodi dynasty. The lofty gateway made primarily with Delhi Quartzite stone is approached by a flight of steps which overlooks the large octagonal garden which has the tomb in the centre and the mosque on the western edge.
